Update on Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors for Sacramento

When the Carbon Monoxide law passed 7 years ago in California, we were still in the midst of short sales. Since many of those sales involved abandoned and / or vacant homes, it was readily apparent to me that something so simple as a plug-in carbon monoxide detector, a device that costs less than twenty bucks at Lowe's, could make or break a sale.

Many short sale sellers lived out of state or were otherwise incapable of buying and / or installing a carbon monoxide detector.

So, I bought a caseload of those detectors from Amazon and stocked up. Whenever my supply ran low, I bought another case. Even today, I have an emergency CO detector two or three in my vehicle, but I'm not handing them out like candy anymore.

Most agents keep handy a CO detector. In fact, I recall a buyer's agent whose knickers were definitely in a twist because my AS IS seller did not install a carbon monoxide detector. It's required, she complained. Well, MLS disclosed the buyers were to comply and, at the end of the day, let's get real, that was a cash sale.
