How Will Climate Change Affect Your Children?

Honestly, I know a lot of people who don't give a hoot about climate change because they a) won't be around when the world is destroyed, and b) they don't really understand it. They think oh, it's three degrees hotter, I can live with that. But they don't realize how many other living things cannot. And when other living things cease to exist, it's only a matter of time for us.

I don't know about you, but this new report on climate change that shows how our actions today can affect more than 500 metropolitan areas in America and Canada, and how it can happen in your children's life time, is a bit disturbing. You can read more in my personal blog today at this link: Climate Change in Sacramento by 2080.

Great Place to Walk 2 Level Miles in Kona
We spotted a couple of guys running along the Maka'eo Walking Path in Kona but at the time of day we were there (mid-afternoon), it was pretty quiet. Not a soul gardening. Not a soul relaxing under the Australian Fire Tree to read a book. Nobody… more
Off-Beaten Path Tour: How Vanilla is Made in Kona
It may surprise you to learn that vanilla beans come from vanilla orchids. I know, right? If you're like me, you can hardly wrap your head around the fact a vanilla bean needs to go through a process to become vanilla extract. On top of which, you… more
Oh, No, It Is the Hotel POOL WARS in Waikiki
Probably just as riveting as the reality shows featuring New Housewives of Wherever (are there really housewives anywhere in the world today? I mean, really, what a horrible name for a group of women, like caged monkeys), or perhaps, now that I… more
Hidden Gem for Japanese Fine Dining in Honolulu
When I asked Hella where she wanted to go for dinner on Friday night in Honolulu, she suggested we choose a restaurant at my hotel. That seemed fine with me. So I called the Japanese restaurant at the New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel. Did not view the… more
Surprise Encounters With Rude People in Waikiki
With the exception of a two-word, 7-letter expression that is pretty much a one-size-fits-all comeback, most of us are not instantly ready to emit a snappy return insult when a complete stranger suddenly lobs a verbal attack in our direction. I'd… more
Interesting Vineyard in Volcano, Hawaii
When one imagines a scenery of green hills rolling on the horizon into infinity, dotted with seemingly perfectly aligned rows of grapes, one may not often conjur up an image of a volcano in that same frame. However, when I stopped to consider that… more
Fun Visit to the Steam Vents in Hawaii
People of all ages can visit the steam vents at Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. It's got the typical raised deck walkways with railings to protect you from falling into the steam vents. There is a lot to see along the way, too. From the tall… more
What Kilauea Looks Like at the End of 2018
Hard to believe that prior to 2018, the last big eruption from the volcano Kilauea on the Big Island happened 35 years ago. At that point in my life I was completely engrossed in selling real estate in Newport Beach (southern California). I do not… more
Locals Do Not Go to MacKenzie State Park After Sundown
A while back on ActiveRain there was a MeMe of sorts going around in which one of the questions was do you believe in ghosts. That seemed like such an odd question to ask. Interesting, but odd. Like, we all know how Fox Mulder would probably… more
