Shooting For 3-Cat Household in Land Park Once Again

I had this feeling yesterday that if I had insisted on bringing home two kittens instead of just one, my husband was at a weak point in his conviction. He insists that our maximum cat numbers cannot exceed three. They were THAT cute.

But when we paused to consider, it wouldn't make sense. Besides adding a third cat to our house, we also need the new addition to blend well into our existing family. We have Jackson, the Flamepoint Ragdoll, with such a sensitive disposition. He is so sensitive that if we moved a chair, we would have ruined his entire life.

Then there is Tessa, a bit high strung, tad hyper, very demanding, and even though she is the youngest, she runs the house. If Tessa ain't happy, nobody is happy. Can't have two small kittens because they'll bond with each other. We want the new kitten to bond with Tessa and help her relieve some of that energy. Jackson doesn't usually want to play with her. You can read more in my personal blog today at this link: Introducing Our New Ragdoll Kitty at Home in Land Park.

Buying a Paddle Board is a Personal Experience
When you buy a new car, most people would test drive the vehicle prior to purchase, right? So, I think it only makes sense to try out a new paddle board before buying. All paddle boards are not the same. When you don't really know anything about a… more
Which Do You Prefer: Charcoal or Gas Grill?
It seems that everything we have at our house in Hawaii is so much nicer than the stuff at our house in Sacramento. But that's probably because it's newer. My husband keeps telling me that I live in Hawaii now, but I really don't. Just part of the… more
What Kind of Sound Do You Hear When Your Cat Purrs?
Do you realize how incredibly diverse cat purrs are? The more cats you bond with in your life, the more you realize how different they sound. With some cats, you might feel the vibration but not actually hear the purr itself. Other cats are so… more
A Wild New Year's Eve in Honolulu with Hella
Although it didn't dawn on me at the time I bought my house in Hawaii and Hella Mitschke Rothwell , a Hawaii broker, helped me do it, that we would continue to meet up in Hawaii. Last year, we got together for a day on Lanai. This year, Hella says… more
Have You Ever Heard of the Genius of Fukubukuro?
Suppose you walked into a store, like Michael Kors, for example, in Waikiki. Maybe you're shopping for a new sparkly evening bag or even a new pair of shoes because perhaps you've thrown your old shoes into the trash in an alley the night before.. more
The Trouble with Fishing for Marlin in Hawaii
Most people would find it no trouble at all to go deep-sea fishing in Hawaii, particular with the hopes of reeling in a big fish like a marlin. But it's not as easy as it sounds. It seems even more difficult than fighting a bluefish in Maine. You… more
Story of Christmas With My Neighbors in Kailua-Kona
Conversation around the dinner table with my neighbors in Kona was quite entertaining this Christmas. One neighbor is building a Tiny House and plans to travel around the mainland, towing her Tiny House, giving lectures to single women babyboomers… more
Have You Ever Tasted a Liliko'i Opera Cake?
When I asked my neighbor, who is also my Christmas dinner host, if I could bring a liliko'i cake as dessert, she was fairly adamant that I not leave the remainder of the cake at her house. First, I think she was assuming I would bring an enormous… more
There Are Days You Say I Am Going to the Beach
Stumbling upon honus (turtles) was not my goal yesterday, but that's exactly what happened. Except for the extremely windy weather and severely pounding surf up the coast, it was a beautiful day to go to the beach. Kathy Streib gave me the idea to… more
