Two More Hawaiian Beaches to Expore

Yesterday was my last day in Hawaii for a while. At least until next month, anyway. Usually my last days are spent preparing to depart. Recharging my Ring, which this time I could not get off my gate. Looks like I will have to drill that baby out as the screws are stripped. Such a fine line between "tight" and "never unscrewing again."

I also write a couple of blog posts so I don't have to get out of bed at 3 AM Hawaii time in Sacramento to create my daily stuff. Due to real estate-related work, I didn't get done half the stuff I had planned to do until the following departure day. Because it was time to visit a couple more beaches. When it's time to go to the beach, it's time to go.

You can see a lot more photographs and read more in my personal blog today at this link: Mauna Lani Beach vs Fairmont Beach on Big Island.

My Favorite Beach in West Hawaii
We are packing up the house as I type this morning. I'm heading back to Sacramento to pick up more listings, and my houseguests, Josh and Vika, are flying out to Kauai for another week. Their families are arriving in Kauai for more activities. I… more
The Floral Adventures of Akaka Falls on Big Island
After our exhilerating ziplining adventure on Labor Day, we decided to visit Akaka Falls. I suppose it's possible that trip could have been the plan all along but I only first heard of it after the 8 ziplines. Vika said she and Josh missed the… more
Do Not Wait Forever to Try Ziplining
There seemed to always be some sort of reason why I could not go ziplining in the past. Although, whenever I go on vacation, the ziplining places seem to be everywhere. Part of the reason I'd never gone ziplining before was finding a person to do… more
Always a Good Time to Go Snorkeling in Hawaii
For the first time in a long time, I left the house yesterday without my cellphone, keys or bag. Our houseguests, Josh and Vika, suggested a snorkeling trip south of Kona. Since they were driving, I figured I didn't need anything. To leave the… more
Jumping Off a 50-Foot Cliff at South Point Hawaii
If you ask Gary Thomas in Key West he will tell you he has the southernmost point in Florida, but that is not true. It is the southernmost point in the continental U. S. but not in the United States. Nope, that honor belongs to the Big Island in… more
Finally, Mainland Visitors to Our House in Kona
By mainland visitor, I mean a person. Well, two people. Not the ishy creepy thing I stepped on barefoot this morning. After a hard rain, the slugs come out. My fault. Wasn't watching where I was walking along our sidewalk when I stepped on… more
You're Gonna Love Poi Dog Deli in Kailua-Kona
Supporting local businesses is important to me regardless of where I may be in the world. If there is a way to buy a local product, that's what I will do. Just the way I am wired. So, even though I knew that Poi Dog Deli was opened earlier this… more
Have You Ever Considered Refrigerating Bananas?
Absolutely cannot believe how much money I spent at the grocery store in Kona last Saturday. More than $500. But then I don't go grocery shopping in Sacramento, so I'm not really aware of how much things cost. Like, I would be a lousy contestant on… more
Busiest Sacramento Tourist Spots Often Quiet on Fourth of July
My first plan was the Cosumnes River hike. I was trying to think of places not too far away from our home in Land Park where my husband and I could go on the Fourth of July. Just to get out into the glorious summer day. He really dislikes driving… more
