How Many Agents Stop Working Thanksgiving Week?

Chatted with an agent yesterday via email who is out of town until the 27th. I'm not sure if it's that people have a lot of family who live in other states (which is fairly common for Sacramento), or if they travel elsewhere to all be together for that one week in November. Thanksgiving Week. It's not just a day anymore. It's not just Black Friday.

It's an entire week when many agents just shut down and enjoy the experience of not selling real estate. Not that I would know what that feels like because I don't and do not wish to. I'm sort of an odd duck that way, you could say. You can read more in my personal blog today about Thanksgiving Week and Sacramento Real Estate.

And like I asked in my personal blog: why are the schmucks in that photo forcing that poor little old grandmother to stand there holding a freakin' huge tray of turkey?

Sunday Thoughts: Don't Put Off Fun Until You Retire

Dining at Michelin 3-Star in San Francisco
One of the surprising differences between Los Angeles, where we are visiting next month, and San Francisco, where we often go from Sacramento a few times every year, are the restaurants. The last time I looked, there are not any 3-star Michelin… more
Why Buying a Car in Hawaii is Somewhat Difficult
Well meaning people will tell you all sorts of things about buying a car in Hawaii. Several have suggested that I purchase a much older car because somehow I guess they think I would prefer to drive an already rusted-out vehicle. No, thank you, I… more
Folk Singer and Activist Billy Bragg Stops in Sacramento
My husband read my personal blog this morning and slapped a Billy Bragg CD, "Back to Basics" on my desk. He said this is why I haven't heard very many Billy Bragg songs, because most of it was recorded in the 1980s. A decade that I… more
Who Makes Up the Majority of Your Friends Today?
Back in the day, we'd probably call them "work friends" but that seems so antiquated now. When I worked at First American Title in Lakewood, Colorado and then Boulder, most of my friends were not in the business. Searching the grantor and… more
How to Keep Your Cat From Tearing Out Stitches
My sister has enough problems in her life, mostly trying to fight the U. S. P. S. to get them to honor her disability claim, which has been going on for years. They just stopped paying her and she has no source of income. She used to have a… more

Fun Saturday Activities From Kailua-Kona
My last full day in Kailua-Kona was fairly busy, given the fact that when I got up that morning, I didn't really have a plan. Well, my plan was to finish up a few loads of laundry. But my manciure appointment from Friday got pushed to Saturday… more
