Here is My Secret to Success

dream house in land parkOver the last 12 months I have sold on average more than one home per week. I know this because I looked at the stats in MLS a few days ago and my mouth fell open. I'm not one of those Land Park agents who routinely tracks her closings because that's a luxury I rarely allot the time to do. I tend to focus more on what's happening today and what's likely to happen tomorrow. That's the secret to my success, if you want to know. I don't look at the money.

As for today, I can tell you this is unequivocally the worst day to buy a home. Why? Because it's the last Friday in May. Knowing this, I managed to not schedule any closings for today but I do have several signings. However, due to pressing issues beyond my control, they were scheduled for the same time. It's a good thing the signings are next door to each other so I can run back and forth like a good little chipmunk. Not every agent in Sacramento attends her client's signings, but I do try to be there for my clients.

I really feel for the employees at the title company, though. Most workers get to go home early on Memorial Day weekend but not escrow and title personnel. No sneaking out early for them. As for me, I'll be working through the weekend. If one of my buyers wants to look at homes in Land Park, I might be working on Memorial Day as well.

But don't feel sorry for me. I absolutely love what I do. My job is fun, challenging and rewarding. In fact, I suggest that if you don't feel the same way about your job that you take part of this three-day weekend to think about what's important to you and whether you hold the power to change your destiny. If you could do anything in the world that you wanted, what would you do? Is it possible that you could make it happen?
