I always get a little sad when my vacation is over, and we've had a wonderful time during the last leg of our multiple-leg excursion around south Florida. Originally, I had planned to stay at Key West for 3 weeks but then my husband suggested touring the Everglades National Park. I've seen the Everglades, but I've never visited them with him, so why not?
We spent 3 days too long in Miami, then on to Marco Island for 5 days. The Marriott at Marco is a true resort and not like your corporate Marriots. Then it was on to Islamorada for Christmas and 5 days on the sandy beach at a boutique resort, Casa Morada. I highly recommend the Shangri La room, if only they would add wood flooring, LOL.
The last leg, 6 days in Key West at the Ocean Key Resort, was plenty. I wouldn't mind living in Key West if we could find a place without tourists, and I suspect that would be fairly difficult to achieve. Some people seem to have fled to Sunset Island, but that's a bit too expensive. What am I talking about? All of Key West is expensive!
It will be good to get home and rescue our 3 cats from the housesitters. Well, I'd like to think we are rescuing, but they are probably so pampered that they've forgotten all about us. You can read more about our last day in Key West in my personal blog today at Leaving Key West and Returning to Reality.
