You never know what you might see in Land Park, especially the closer you get to William Land Park. The Sacramento SPCA (SSPCA) held its annual Doggy Dash event today at William Land Park. I sponsored one of my client's dog packs in the race. Amy McMullan supports the Pit Bull club known as Sacramento Responsible Pet Bull Lovers.
On the way there, what did you suppose I spotted? A unicyclist riding just a few blocks away from the park, on the corner of Land Park Drive and 12th.
I thought you might enjoy seeing a photo or two of this guy. I suppose he uses that wood stick as a balance as opposed to bonking passersby on the noggin. I haven't had the guts to try to ride of these bikes. I wonder if his mom told him to wear a helmet and he declined. Helmets are for sissies, I bet he says.
And here is he having passed the corner without getting hit by a car. You will note the Lyon Real Estate for sale sign behind him. You see Lyon Real Estate signs everywhere in Land Park these days. We dominate the marketplace in Land Park and sell more homes in Land Park than any other real estate company!

Elizabeth
That's kind of cool; I wonder if I have that balance? The guy kind of looks like Brett Favre. I thought of you and how focused, driven, and commited to excellence you are like Vince Lombardi recently.
Glad you had your camera---you don't see those often!
Elizabeth,
Quite a scene that you spotted. I for one never ran into anything like that. And you had your camera ready, wow. Interesting photos.
Good to have your camera ready I would never have expected to see this. Thanks for sharing your photos
Wow i never realized you specialized in classic older homes - I love them too! And unicycling.....i did it when i was much younger and more co-ordinated :-)
Yeah, sometimes I just luck out. It's like I have an angel on my shoulders at times. Did you know that I used to layout, design and write the quarterly newsletter for the SSPCA? But real estate activities and my business interfered, but the Sacramento SPCA will always have a place in my heart, and I support that organization.
After I discovered so many pets were being abandoned due to the rising number of foreclosures in Sacramento, I wrote to the President of the SSPCA, and she passed on my About.com article about abandoned foreclosure pets to the executive director. A few days later, the SSPCA instituted a campaign to take in abandoned foreclosure pets. Just last year the California legislature passed a law that says REO agents are responsible for taking care of pets left behind in foreclosures. We can make a difference.
But I never in a million years expected to see a unicyclist riding down the street. I was lucky to have my camera with me.
Hi Elizabeth... What an interesting sight... and what a wonderfully enchanting looking neighborhood. I love all the mature trees!
There is a little boy who actually rides a unicycle to our local elementary school. Beyond that, haven't seen one since I took my kids to the circus about a million years ago!
I can't even begin to tell you how many bones would end up broken if I attempted to ride that silly thing. Of course, I could make a mint filming the whole 'saddling up' process. ha
