If you haven't met Myrl Jeffcoat, a busy agent in Sacramento, you're in for a treat. She's simply delightful and filled with interesting stories about what it was like to grow up in the Land Park area. I try to get together with Myrl at least every couple months or so for lunch. We ferret out interesting restaurants in Sacramento to explore.
One of my favorite lunch-time spots is Ricksha on 10th Street, just north of W Street. Their box lunches are $5.99, and I guarantee you'll wobble out of that place satiated and happy. Myrl and I had lunch at Ricksha yesterday. She mentioned trying to get into the WPA Rock Garden at William Land Park on the day of the SSPCA Doggie Dash, but all the streets were blocked off for the SSPCA event.
So, Myrl, this is for you. Here are the last of my photographs of the Rock Garden in Land Park, Sacramento. You can find the entrance just east of Land Park Drive on 15th Street. One of the photos shows you the view from the pond, so you can figure out how to get into the rock garden from the back side, too. And if anybody can identify that bird, please let me know. I was thinking it might be a night heron, but what do I know?

Exquisite photos! What is that breathtaking red flower and what camera are you using? Thanks for sharing the eye candy.
Hi Margaret: I use a Nikon digital. I think that red flower is a bottle brush. The rock garden is filled with exquisite and interesting stuff; I've only half scratched the surface.
Elizabeth, Gorgeous photos!
Elizabeth, I love the pictures that you post of flowers. They look amazing!
Elizabeth: Love the photos...especially the one of the pond with the fountain. Looks like a great place to relax.
Elizabeth - I really need to make a point of visiting that part of the park. I don't have a clue how I managed to miss it all these years. What kind of bird do you think that is? Very unusual! I like the little "Sacrificial Circle" in the bottom picture too. . .Perhaps that could be put to good use:-)
Sacrificial Circle huh? I wouldn't mind using that from time to time myself. Might just have to build one of those out back of my office. Great photos once again Elizabeth and I'm not asking any questions this time. :) They are beautiful... whatever they are.
Such great photos. I especially like the red flowers in the first photo thanks for the tour.
Elizabeth
You have a talent in photography. I think you could work for National Geographic. Beautiful pictures and William Land Park will get a tour from me to enjoy it's beauty.
