Before I tell you about my new short sale listing in Foothill Farms, let me sidetrack for a moment here to say I hate wearing contact lenses. For those of you who wear them, how do you manage? I've had 20 / 15 vision all of my life, but soon as I hit my mid-40s, print began to shrink. My husband has no empathy for me because he's been blind as a bat for as long as he can remember.
The worst part is getting up in the morning and discovering that when I put on my reading glasses, everything on my monitor is blurry. My first thought is I'm having a heart attack. But then I realize that I forgot to remove my contact lenses the night before and went to sleep wearing them.
Here is a delightful 3 bedroom, 2 bath home located just south of Greenback and a few blocks west of Garfield in Foothill Farms. It has a 2-car garage that faces east and the home faces south. The reason that orientation is important is because the back yard faces north, so you can entertain in the summertime without being hit directly by the sun.
It has 1,400 square feet, according to the Sacramento County Assessor's office, but it feels much bigger inside. The layout is attractive, it's a good flow. It has hardwood flooring throughout except for the ceramic floors in the kitchen and baths. Two of the bedroom floors are covered in carpet, but there could very well be hardwood underneath.
Not only do you get a breakfast nook in the kitchen, but there is a formal dining area off the other end of the kitchen, which overlooks the back yard. The back yard has fruit trees, a lawn and a couple of patios, one of which is uncovered. Of course, it has central heat and air.
Right off the entry way is a den with built-in cabinets and bookcases flanking the entry to the kitchen. You could use this room as an office or a family room. If you're looking for all the charm of a home built in 1957 but with modern updates, this Foothill Farms ranch may be just the home for you.

Elizabeth- That home looks so familiar- the style and all, very 'ranch style' for CA. We lived in Elverta for 3 years. Milet was born in American River Hospital. :)
Super cute house Elizabeth. I tried going w/ contacts in my twenties and just couldn't do it. This was waaaay before they had all these new kinds of contacts but still....my eyes always felt dry. I currently have 5 pairs of cheaters and can never find a single pair. So contacts may be in my future....hope not though.
I've worn glasses since I was about 20. I only need them for distance, but leave them on 24/7. That way I'm not always searching for them. A friend of mine is always complaining that he cant find his glasses, I tell him to just leave them on, but he's stubborn. As far as contacts, I have no patience so I "can't be bothered."
As far as your listing, it looks like a great home and a great price. Best wishes on a quick contract!!
Lewis
I got my first bi-focals at just 23. Today my 21 year old daughter who is blind in one eye will be getting glasses so she can continue to see out of the other one. So put us in the blind as a bat forever category, but I can still manage to sympathize with you over contacts. :)
The house is charming and I love the yard. I know you'll have it pending in no time.
Elizabeth: Great new listing! As for the contacts, I find the older I get, the more I hate going through the harang of contacts too. I am seen much more frequently in my glasses these days. So much easier.
Oh I feel for you. I don't think I could ever stick something like that in my eye. My husband wears them. I've been lucky for 37 years and never needing corrective lenses but I know things can change as we get older. At least it must feel good when you realize you're not, in fact, having a heart attack!
Wow, Katerina, from Elverta to Florida. What a lifestyle change for you!
Hey Colleen: I have 6 pair of reading glasses lying around the house in conspicuous spots where I can never find a pair when I need them. I think my cats run off with them.
Are you telling me, Lewis, that you wear your glasses to bed? How do you do that? Do you sleep on your back?
Hi Tammy: I wear monovision contacts, 4.00 for reading up close and 1.50 for distance in the other eye. Sure solves the "small print" problem.
Hi Chris Ann: I don't even like to wear sunglasses, no matter how cool they make you look.
Hi Cari: Ha, 37, just wait another 5 years. The first signs are you start holding a paper further away and squinting . . .
Elizabeth, I thought my daughter had written the first part of your blog about eye sight. She solved her problem with laser surgery. She can now see perfectly except readers for small print. You might consider it.
I am too chicken, Barbara, to do laser surgery. Besides, if I still need glasses to read small print, what's the point? An associate had laser surgery and they over-corrected her eyes. I don't like the odds of a mistake. And I don't like the idea of somebody peeling back my eyeballs -- it makes me think of A Clockwork Orange.
Even I can "see" this is a good value.
From the desk of David Dee,
Elizabeth, looks like a well built home. Very traditional and has a cozy feel to it.
