A seller hugged me yesterday when I left her home. I'm not one of those huggy-feely types, but I do reciprocate when approached. See, I recognize the stress and anxiety level of sellers in this market, especially sellers who are doing a short sale. I try to be reassuring because I believe that's an important component of being a Sacramento short sale agent. Clients come to me because they want to close their short sale and get on with their lives. It's my job to make sure that happens.
My transaction coordinator and I were talking about this yesterday. How some people do a job and their heart is not in it. They don't really care. It's just a job to do 9 to 5, and then plop down in front of the TV with a beer, remote and bag of chips. Files are case numbers. They're not living, breathing people whose lives hang in the balance, dependent on what you do.
If you don't think that lives are hanging in the balance in a short sale, then you may not know much about a short sale. Many sellers have struggled for years. Doing a short sale is not a sudden decision. It's like an albatross hanging around their neck. They hear horror stories, many of which are true, and they are afraid of facing the unknown. But I get them out of this mess. Relatively unscathed. So, I feel like I'm making a difference, too.
When I feel like I am making a difference, it makes me care even more about my job and doing a good job.
I took a couple of listings yesterday, and I am listing 4 more homes between now and Monday afternoon. If you're looking to buy a short sale in Sacramento, call me at 916 233 6759; I might have something for you. One of my new listings is a short sale in Elk Grove. I'd like to show you the photos of two boys' bedrooms. The Chicago Bulls and the Sacramento Kings. These are simply delightful spaces. If you're into sports, I can't say that I have have seen a more clever decor!

I am huggy with friends and family, rarely with clients because I generally don't like them in my space and respect their space.
I'm not sure who could do this job or be a short sale negotiator and not have their heart in it.
Hi Tammy: I have long relationships with my sellers. Because they are short sales. In a regular transaction, they would be in and out of my life in a few months, but with a short sale, well, let's just say my longest was two years. So, it's not unusual to get hugged at closing. What's unusual is to get hugged at the listing appointment, LOL.
I showed this house and it was lovely. Great home, my buyer wanted something a bit larger. Maybe next time! :-)
Hey Debbie: Thanks for showing. I wondered why you did not respond to my email. I follow up on all my showings.
Little did I know you were posting on my blog, LOL. We have multiple offers now.
