Breakfast at Four Seasons Resort at Hualalai

If you want to know how much it costs to stay at a luxury resort in Hawaii, here is the formula. Take what sounds like a somewhat reasonable expenditure and triple it. For example, if you would be willing to pay $5.00 for a can of Coke to quench your thirst, then you should be willing to spend $15 for it at a resort.

A resort is all about the details. The experience. Would you like a bottle of Tabasco sauce delivered with your eggs, Sir? Madam, will you be seated at the right or left of your breakfast table? How would you like your toast toasted?

There are times you simply do not want to be fussed over. Just throw it on the table and get out of my room.

This resort also features 4 pools. My favorite is the pool without the kids. My husband snorkeled in the Kings Pond with the fish. Unlike other popular resorts on the Big Island, the Four Seasons assigns cabanas free-of-charge, so if you can't find a place to sleep in or out of the sun, the pool attendants are wired to speak to each other and find you a spot. Well, except for the $300 beds on the beach. There is no spur-of-the-moment dining, either, unless you want room service. Everything is reserved in advance. You know what? This is way too much work.

I'm quite the spur of the moment person myself.  So not so sure I'd like having to make reservations and eat at a certain time.  But you did however make me crave warm sunshine reading this post.

Oh man ... that would never work for me.  I'm a grazer ... and if you talk to my wife, she'll tell you a real pain in the butt about eating.  Admittedly, it's on my mind alot.  Reservations???  ummmmmmm ... no.  But beach, sun, warm weather, tropical breezes.  I'm from Chicagoland.  It sounds like heaven ... esp. in winter ...

Elizabeth - I don't make reservations, I just go wherever whenever I feel like it. I'm sure it costs a pretty penny there for something so tedious.

Hi Chris Ann: This resort offers a dial up connection for free. I tried that for 2 hours but reverted to the premium, so I understand your pain.

Hi Tammy: Yeah, when you're on vacation, you want to do what you want to do when you want to do it.

Hi Gene: It is heaven. That's simply the truth. I knew this guy in Minneapolis who always went on vacation in February because it gave him hope that summer was close at hand. Maybe you should go for a quick trip?

Hi Cynthia: With the Four Seasons, it's all about supply and demand. More people want the resort has to offer than it can reasonably provide and they are content to make do with less because of the location, goofy as that sounds.
