Elizabeth Weintraub • Sacramento Real Estate Agent: The Biopic Movie On the Basis of Sex

The Biopic Movie On the Basis of Sex

Some of the reviews I read about the movie, On the Basis of Sex, the biopic about Ruth Bader Ginsburg, seemed focused on the fictional parts of the movie. As though the reviewer wanted this movie to be a documentary, which would be historical, and then was dismayed to discover it's . . . wait for it . . . a movie.

As a movie, it deals with a principle that shaped and formed Ruth Bader Ginsburg's obsession with equality for all under the law. And what is wrong with that, I ask you? Also, it brings painfully to mind all the things that women were not allowed to do in the 1960s / 1970s.

Further, when a friend down the street stopped by my house yesterday, I mentioned to her that I planned to see this movie after our open houses on Sunday. My friend asked, "Who is that?" How did this woman get to be in her 70s and not know Ruth Bader Ginsburg? Can't blame the island for it because my friend grew up in Roseville and moved to Hawaii a year or so ago. Just proof that there are people who do not know. As mindboggling as that might seem.

Well, you can read more in my personal blog today at this link: One of the Movies About Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

What's wrong with men being the housekeeper?..I'm certain you told that carpenter what you thought of the comment.

Don't be too judgemental about your neighbor, Elizabeth.  I remember one trip to Hawaii, I had so unplugged from the matrix, at least how the matrix was in the 1980s.  Anyway, when I returned to Sacramento, I learned that Sacramento had a levee wash out at Twin Cities Road, and there was major flooding.  It had made national news, but I was oblivious to it because I had been dwelling in Hawaiian paradise.  The islands give a feeling that the rest of the world doesn't matter. . .And, that's not such a bad thing, when you consider some things aren't actually in our control to change!

I keep kind thoughts of RBG every day.  I want her to hang on until she can safely retire for the good of the nation.  And, that time is not now!

Myrl Jeffcoat A year in the islands doesn't explain away 69 years on the Mainland and still not ever hearing about Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

I have met others like her. When I mentioned to another friend a book recommendation, she stared at me blankly and said, "Oh, I don't read." As though it's a preference.

Beth Atalay Ruth Bader Ginsburg is one of my super-heroines, right up there with Mae West.

Aloha Elizabeth - I saw On The Basis Of Sex and thought it was a good movie although I think I liked the documentary RBG a little more.  It was good to see both films -- a very special person obviously and two very special moments in film too.

Elizabeth, this movie is on my list too, and hope to have some time to go in the near future.   It looked good.
