Perhaps the meeting is in response to the Land Park survey results sent out last month, although I don't see that item listed on the agenda; however, the Board of the Land Park Community Association has decided to hold a meeting tonight. It was announced shortly after midnight last night via email. The president of the Land Park group works in my office, so I most likely see her this morning to find out what is going on. A meeting announcement such as this is unusual.
There is a director position to fill, but given the hotbed of contention, it would take a person of iron steel, determination and conviction to fill it.
Oh, and the meeting place has changed. It's no longer at the school on Riverside. The Land Park Community Association will meet tonight at The Monroe Lodge, which is located at 3225 Freeport Boulevard (north of 9th Avenue and south of 8th Avenue).
I wonder how many people will A) get the meeting notice B) find time in schedules to attend and C) know the meeting place has changed?

Elizabeth: Emergency HOA meeting? I have never heard of such a thing! I think the attendance will be quite low...unless folks are following your blog and know where to go, and when to be there.
Hi Chris Ann: This isn't a home owner association, it's a neighborhood association that's been under attack with much dissension among the board and members lately. So, I guess they get to write their own rules and hold meetings whenever they want. Dues are $15 a year.
What fun someone has an issue they don't want to have others opinion on and thought this is a good way to just do it with out discussion. Good luck.
Elizabeth - I think community meetings of this sort, in the middle of the holiday season, and without good communication about time and place, don't really allow for input from the greatest amount of folks within the community. It would be far better to have it put off until everyone could be informed, and participate.
It would have been interesting to have gone last night but I had other obligations. The president did not come to our office meeting, either, so I didn't find out why this happened at such short notice.
