The president of the Land Park Community Association described in an email the "turbulent beginning" of the LPCA meeting held last Wednesday. She reported "tedious discussion" and much "interruption," concluding that the rival group within LPCA was trying to "take over the community forum agenda," adding that residents of Land Park supported following her initial agenda.
The Land Park Community Association will hold an Emergency LPCA meeting this Sunday, January 25, 7 PM, at the Eskaton Monroe Lodge on Freeport in Land Park to discuss petitions for bylaw amendments.
I wish somebody would videotape this and put it on YouTube.

Elizabeth: There is so much drama within HOA's. We're having our own, and as a Board Member, I really sometimes just want to laugh out loud at the ridiculous things people want us to do.
Hi Elizabeth!
So, you didn't go either...I just couldn't get up the initiative to go. I heard there were 80 people...pretty good turnout! I am concerned that they are addressing "the unique Architecture of our neighborhood". They have bantied around what they perceive to be "McMansions" in Land Park and the problems with them..I have no idea what they are referring to unless it is the 3 story garage. Can you imagine if this group decides it wants to review remodeling plans in the neighborhood and Okaying them?!!!
Hi Chris Ann: Drama is putting it mildly.
Hi Paula: I'd watch a fight on TV but I don't want to attend one. I learned a long time ago that few people want to take sides on an internal feud. I didn't understand it then, but I do now that I'm on the outside looking in. They need an independent third party to settle this.
Approving remodels is a touchy subject. I was sorry to see that Spanish home I had listed on Burnett and Freeport be demolished. I had hopes that new owners would at least keep the character of the structure. The streetscape and tree canopy could get out of hand as well -- we may be prohibited from planting certain types of trees.
But I have too many other things going on to get involved in the LPCA's battleground.
Right there with you...it's a no-win situation!
