In an effort to reduce paperwork and make bill paying easier, my husband signed up for Sacramento Bee's "Easy Pay" subscription service. It means the Sacramento Bee charges your credit card every 5 weeks instead of sending an invoice. Seemed simple enough.
The first week we received 2 newspapers a day. They weren't delivered by the same Land Park carrier because they were tossed in different places in the yard. I used to get the paper on my front porch, sometimes slammed into the flower garden, but never out on the lawn.
We called to let the Sacramento Bee know that it did not need to make two Land Park carriers deliver the same newspaper. Next week, still, 2 newspapers on the lawn.
Yesterday, my husband called the Sacramento Bee again. Explained the problem. The Sac Bee said, "Oh, no problem, we'll just cancel your account and open a new account."
My husband was leery about this scheme but was assured it was the proper way to fix the delivery problem.
Well, this morning I opened the front door and discovered not two but FOUR newspapers strewn about on the lawn. They are multiplying. Call me silly, but I don't believe that signing up for the Sacramento Bee's "Easy Pay" service is a good idea. I don't know if this is happening in neighborhoods other than Land Park, but if I were you, I'd go look in the bushes.

And they wonder why newspapers are going out of business left and right. I love the smell, feel and sound of a good old fashioned newspaper - but man the business practices.
I hate to see the day when we have no more newspapers. I read other news online, but it's just not the same as holding it in your hands.
The good news is we received only one paper this morning. The bad news is the carrier threw it halfway into the yard and not on my porch. I'm so lazy that if I have to walk out into the yard to get it, I may as well read it online.
Now this would be really aggravating if they were charging you double or quadruple for those papers!
I think I would cancel them and read it online. Save a tree or two!
Hi Lizette: I like to read the newspaper when I have breakfast, and I eat enough meals in front of my computer as it is. LOL. Plus, I use the newspapers to place under my cats' food dishes and to line the bird cages. News print, believe it or not, is an excellent material to use for washing windows.
I recently had to cancel my credit card as there was a charge on it that I did not make. I received my new card but have been unable to get on line with the bee to correct this. They sent me a letter saying I could go to www.sacbee.com/account but this did not work. I kept getting things that said they could not find this web site. Tried to call but was on hold for so long I hung up. I do not want to pay by check and so guess I will try again tomorrow to get a hold of someone.
